submissions

UPDATE: May 17, 2013
Please note that we are not currently accepting submissions, although these would be the guidelines if we were. If you've submitted in the past year, we're still reviewing.

Guidelines for as yet untitled but possibly will just be called Newspaper Project

A new venture for 2012. Here’s the deal:
  • untitled Newspaper Project will present 5-12 minute plays inspired by actual archival newspapers.
  • In terms of specifications, the play may have up to 5 characters. Our lighting and set capabilities are limited, so tech elements should be primarily composed of props, costumes and sounds, and out of that, mostly sounds.
  • Send us: a short play that makes use of an article in one of the chosen archival newspapers, or deals with the theme in another, equally compelling way, although the newspaper must be a prop in the play
  • format: titles page with title, author’s name, contact info, production history, character breakdown. Page numbers must be on all pages.
  • standard play format, i.e. character name center, dialogue beneath.
  • PDF electronic submissions only: subject line: Sticky Submission: to blueboxworld at gmail dot com.
  • click here for to download a pdf of the first newspaper, 05/31/67
Sticky Submissions:
  • plays must be no more than 10 pages, and must have 4 characters or less
  • plays must be set in a bar, no exceptions, do not send us a play that does not take place in a bar
  • format: titles page with title, author’s name, contact info, production history, character breakdown. Page numbers must be on all pages.
  • standard play format, i.e. character name center, dialogue beneath.
  • PDF electronic submissions only: subject line: Sticky Submission: to blueboxworld at gmail dot com.
  • rolling deadline, 4-6 months response time
Actors & Directors:

If you’d like to be considered to perform in Sticky, the best way is to come to the show and introduce yourself to Libby, Ali or Dave.  If you’d like to be on the mailing list, and have us send you invitations to shows, send your name and email addy to blueboxworld@gmail.com.  If you can’t make it to a show, send your head shot and resume (directors: just resume and pleasant email) to dave@blueboxproductions.net, subject line actor submission or director submission, respectively. Let us know what you’re interested in, and we’ll be in touch.

It’s really hard for us to cast without meeting you though, and we don’t hold auditions, so coming out to the show is really the best way.
